This bicycle tour leads you through the forests, meadows and jagged peaks of the Upper Bavaria region where many customs from times past are still a part of life. The riding is along the Isar river , Lake Constance (German: Bodensee) and the Via Bavarica Tyrolensis cycle path. The route follows well marked and paved cycle paths as well as quiet side roads (with only on short sections on main roads) and a few unpaved but easy sections. There are a few short climbs which are also easily managed. Total distance of the tour is between 218 - 268 kilometres depending on which routes are taken,

Individual arrival to the Bavarian capital. Worth seeing is the English garden with its Chinese tower, the church Frauenkirche and the Nymphenburg Palace.

Murnau resp. Seehausen am Staffelsee

Your first bike stage leads you through the Forstenrieder Park to Lake Starnberg. You can cycle along the Lake or shorten the stage to approx. 48 km by boat (on your own, possible daily from 01st May). A real insider hint is the gorgeous view over the romantic Riegsee before you reach the artist place Murnau am Staffelsee.

Garmisch-Partenkirchen

In the morning you cycle to the largest moor area of Central Europe. The “Murnauer Moos” arose after the last Ice Age. After that you go along the crystal-clear river Loisach to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It is possible to go to the highest peak of Germany by train “Zugspitzbahn” and enjoy the unique mountain stage and the clear mountain air.

Today you start your trip with a train ride (included in the tour price, bike ticket on your own). You easily manage 300 altitude differences. From Scharnitz you cycle to the pictorial source of the Isar River. On the way back you enjoy the magnificent panoramic view over the Karwendel Mountains.

Bad Tölz

The stage today leads you over the Isarwinkel to Sylvensteinstausee. Across Lenggries it goes along the turquoise-blue Isar to Bad Tölz. The health town is well-known because of the TV series “Der Bulle von Tölz”. The love for custom and home land is daily routine here.

After a short time (approx. 20 km) you can enjoy the view over the Tegernsee and relax on the lakefront for the rest of the day. Very sportive cyclists can circle the Tegernsee (+ approx. 20 km).
