In Girona there is plenty to see and do. The city is famous for having one of the best preserved Jewish old towns in the world, the Cathedral boasts one of the largest stone vaulted spaces in Gothic architecture and the walk along the ancient walls is a recommended highlight.
After the delivery of documentation and bikes, the first ride takes you to the Mediterranean Sea along the "El Carrilet" cycle path, passing through the towns of Quart, Cassà de la Selva, Santa Cristina dAro and Llagostera. First we follow the Onyar River, which gives us one of the most picturesque and most photographed images: the colored houses on the river bank in the city of Girona. Along the route we always have the Gavarres Massif as a backdrop, a mountainous forest area, consisting mainly of oaks, important for cork production. We finally arrive in Sant Feliu de Guíxols on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea. 45 km - 28 miles+280m
Today you'll ride north along the coast visiting the main port town Palamós. Soon we pass the unspoilt cove Platja de Castell, with it's Iberian settlement , before arriving in the picturesque old fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell, one of the pearls of the Costa Brava. On the last section you'll cycle along the "Ruta del Tren Petit" cycle path, connecting Palamós and Palafrugell , the latter with its amazing beaches and coves on the coast. 31 km - 19 miles+271m
Route towards the north, following the coastline, visiting places of outstanding interest: Pals, with its beautifully conserved medieval centre, and Torroella de Montgrí. The ride will take you through natural wetlands with extensive rice fields and long sandy beaches. The bike tour ends at the foot of the karstic Montgri Massif, rights at the middle of the Natural Park. 29 km - 18 miles+180m
The route continues to the north passing the Montgrí massif into the county of Alt Empordà. We cycle the Bay of Roses with long, sandy beaches. Next to the pretty medieval settlement Sant Martí de Empúries and right in front of the superb beach, is the archaeological complex Empúries with Greek and Roman ruins dating from 600 B.C, - the gateway of the classical cultures to the Iberian Peninsular. The city of Emporion was an important trading post in the Roman Empire and from where the region takes its name. The route then continues north through the town of Castelló d´Empuries set in the protected marshlands of Aiguamolls de l´Empordà. We finally reach Castelló d'Empúries with its rich architectural heritage, cathedral, old market building and Jewish Quarter.. 36 km - 22 miles+60m

Catalonia is well noted for its fine cuisine, with a great offer of fantastic home cooking and also a prestigious haute cuisine made famous by chefs such as Ferran Adriá in his restaurant El Bulli, and also the three brothers from the 3* El Celler de Can Roca, rated as the best restaurant in the world in 2013 and 2015. This tour offers the chance to indulge in the gourmet menu on 2 evenings, one in Girona and the other in Castelló d'Empúries. The price of this supplement is 195 € per person.
An easy tour for the regular cyclist with around 50% of the riding on minor roads and the other 50% on good unpaved roads. Rides are around 40 km, with no big climbs.
The ride is designed for families with children. Distances are short and the riding is along the old railway line know as El Carrilet which has now been converted into a popular cycle path, thus making this tour absolutely ideal for smaller children.
The last few years have seen a revolution in the use of e-bikes. We now offfer e bikes on absolutely all of our rides. There are of course multiple advantages to using one on a bike tour:
The difficulty level is lowered by a grade. Thus an intermediate level tour becomes an easy tour as the motor assists pedalling.
The distance you can cycle on each day is effectively "reduced". Longer distances become accessible to a greater range of riding abilities.
Ability levels between riders on the same tour are levelled out as riders can choose an e-bike to enable them to keep up with stronger riders.
No more worrying about the hills!
So if you are in any doubt about whether a particular tour might be too challenging for you, then take the e-bike option. You can still get a good workout by keeping the pedal assistance level low. E-bikes are now available on all of our tours. And many have both the standard e-bike and also the road e-bike.
